What Is Call.io & How Does It Work?
The basics of Call.io: what it is, how it answers the calls coming in to your business, and how the assistant ends a conversation.
Call.io is an AI-powered call assistant for businesses - an AI receptionist. It answers calls to your business on your behalf, finds out who is calling and what they want, answers their questions with the information you have defined, takes appointments or requests, and leaves you a short note after every conversation.
Call answering and routing, answering customer questions, taking appointments, number- and time-based rules, a custom greeting message, outbound calls, live call monitoring, voicemail, call summary, calendar integration and call history.
Calls do not go unanswered when there is nobody to pick up the phone. The assistant also works outside business hours and during busy periods, answers frequently asked questions, and collects appointments and customer details. You only deal with the calls that need you.
It answers every call to your business's assistant number. If you have forwarded your existing business line to your assistant number, the assistant takes over when you are busy, when a call is not answered, or on all calls. You choose the forwarding method.
The assistant can end a call in four ways: it transfers the call to you over the internet, takes a voicemail, notes the request and ends the call, or rejects the call according to a rule you have defined. In every case you get a note telling you who called and what they wanted.
Yes. If you define a “reject their calls directly” rule for a specific number, the assistant never answers that number. Without such a rule, the assistant answers the call and finds out what the caller wants.
No. Your phone does not ring while the assistant is handling the conversation. When it decides to transfer the call to you, you receive a call through the app. You can carry on with another conversation while the assistant handles a call.
The assistant informs the caller when it takes over. You decide what is said in the greeting from the Custom Greeting section.
It suits any business that takes appointments, reservations or information requests by phone: clinics and beauty salons, restaurants, real estate and insurance offices, service and repair businesses, consultancies and small agencies.
A few minutes. Once you enter your business details and get your assistant number, the assistant starts working. You can build up your Q&A and rules later.
